Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of The Velvet Cafe website, its matchmaking queue and the Discord bots that work with it. By signing in you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

Who can join

• You must be 18 or older. Accounts found to belong to anyone younger are removed.
• You sign in with Discord. Joining matches also needs a Roblox account verified through our Discord bot.
• One person, one account. Each Roblox account can belong to one Discord account; switching needs a moderator's approval.
• You are responsible for what happens on your account. Keep your Discord login and verification key private.

House rules

The house rules are part of these terms. On top of them, you must not:

• post or link sexual content involving minors, or any age-play or race-play content;
• harass, threaten, dox or impersonate anyone;
• post hate speech, or illegal or stolen content;
• use custom profile code to hide site controls, trick members, or load material from outside the allowed sources;
• cheat the queue, coins or badges, use bots or automation, or try to break or overload the site.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you post: profile text, images, guestbook and lounge messages. You give us permission to store and show it on the site for as long as it stays up. Only post things you have the right to share. Moderators can hide or remove any content that breaks these terms or the house rules.

Coins, badges and matches

• Coins and badges are site features with no cash value. They cannot be sold, traded for money, or moved off the site.
• Joining quick match costs one coin. If you leave the queue or are not matched in time, the coin is returned automatically.
• We may adjust balances to fix errors or undo abuse, and we may change or retire coins and badges.
• Matches are played in our Roblox game, and Roblox's own terms apply there too.

Purchases

All purchases are final and non-refundable, including anything bought with real money for the site, the game or the Discord server, except where the law where you live requires a refund. Losing access because of a ban does not entitle you to a refund.

Right to cancel (UK, EU and EEA consumers). If you live in the United Kingdom, the European Union or the European Economic Area, you normally have 14 days to cancel a purchase of digital content. Our digital items are supplied immediately after payment. Before you pay, you will be asked to expressly request immediate supply and to acknowledge that you lose your right to cancel once supply begins. If you give that consent and the item is supplied, your right to cancel ends and the purchase cannot be refunded. We confirm your consent in your purchase receipt.

Nothing in these terms limits your legal rights if an item is faulty, not as described, or not delivered.

Moderation and bans

Moderators can warn, restrict or ban accounts that break these terms or the house rules, with or without notice. A website ban also applies in our Discord server. To appeal, contact staff in the Discord server.

Other services

The site relies on Discord (sign-in and bots), Roblox (accounts and the game), Cloudflare (hosting and security) and Supabase (database). Their terms and outages are outside our control.

No guarantees

The site is run by community volunteers and provided as it is. It may change, go down or lose data. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, or for anything members do to each other.

Changes and ending your use

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and continuing to use the site means you accept it. You can stop using the site at any time. Ask staff if you want your account deleted (see the privacy policy).
